2023 - Pacifica Youth Rugby Cup was held on November 24-26th at Whalan Reserve. We had 6 teams of rangatahi represent NSW Māori, with some players travelling 2+ hours from outside of Sydney to attend trainings and the tournament. It is very exciting when you witness the commitment and dedication made to trainings and then the subsequent great results from their teamwork. Our competing teams comprised of:
U14 Kotiro 10's - Champions
U16 Kotiro 10's - 5th
U14 Tama XV's - 5th
U15 Tama XV's - 2nd
U16 Tama XV's - 4th
U18 Tama XV's - 7th
This was one more team than last year, which is a great start considering this is only the second year and we are one of the smaller sized nations. We are positive the following year will be even bigger and better in the hopes of seeing our younger rangatahi also being able to represent NSW Māori.
The Māori Sports and Cultural Association acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we are privileged to live, work and gather to share in sport and culture. Both here on Dharug land and all across the land. We honour and respect their rich cultural heritage and the connection our custodians have to the land, sea, skies and waterways. We pay our respects to Elders past, Elders present and to those following in their footsteps.
